Think big, see far

Today me & my brother were just discussing how a scooter is used as a mini-van in vietnam & ofcourse in india. How 5-6 people can ride on scooter. Then i started thinking about why is this a phenomena in india or other developing/underdeveloped countries. Well i think it's a circle actually. Your country is highly populated so there is lack of facilities & ofcourse there is poverty, which in turn causes illiteracy. How is one supposed to send his kids to school when he can't afford to feed them. Illiteracy as a result causes lack of job opportunities, thus poverty. Illiteracy also causes lack of knowledge, awareness, ability to think big & fair which results in many social problems. For example, a large part of population in india plans a big family thinking that more earning hands in future will collectively generate more income & thus they will achieve what we call "Economies of scale" in management terms. But they are rarely able to see the quality of life they will provide to each child & how much each one of them will earn finally. They are unable to see how they are actually going to feed 3-4-5-6-7 kids till even the first one starts working at the age of 7 & infact how many of them are going to survive till that time.
I hear people proudly saying in India, we are such a large population which has made india one of the biggest consumer markets, which is bringing all the foreign companies in here to do business & which as a result is bringing an economic boom. Excuse me, US doesn't have the largest of populations but they have been the largest consumer for most of the commodities for so long. Quality of life is often sacrificed for quantity of lives, which becomes a problem not only for a particular family but for other people & the entire nation also.
Do you remember the Indian family planning advertisement some 35 years back? If you remember than you have already come across a picture in your mind "PARENTS WITH THREE KIDS". That was the inability to see the future by Family planning commission. Some 25 odd years back they changed it to "PARENTS WITH TWO KIDS" & some 15 years back they changed it to "PARENTS WITH ONE KID". Fair enough, we cannot ask anyone not to have kids so ONE is fair enough. May be after 20 years we will see an advertisement where government will request you to share one kid with neighbours. Sounds funny? ofcourse it does.

We, the Indians (Part-1)

I have not been to many places, neither have i met people belonging to different cultures & countries.. But i think there is something wrong with us. We, the indians, just don't have an atitude to make our life & lifestyle better. Now a days, going foreign for a vacation is not a big deal & all those indians who go out on vacations will not throw away the wrappers/empty Coke-cans on roads while out of india (After all some countries are so clean, one doesn't even think of throwing things here & there.) But as soon as they are back to homeland, they slide the car window down & throw away the remains of fruits/empty water bottles etc. I do not intend to highlight this particular habbit alone. I want to take up a larger issue.
I was coming back from delhi yesterday & i kept on discussing this issue with my brother that indians have closed minds & they just don't want to try or learn something new. Undoubtedly our car driver was listening to this stuff whole day but he jumped red light. I asked him not to do it again. some 15 minutes later, he pushed the accelerator down to jump another traffic light when we all knew it was impossible to cross it in time. As a result he had to stop in the middle of the road & then reverse the car. I scolded him for being such a deaf. While i am saying that people of this country must realize that, only they can make it better.. he is at time also behaving like just another indian. Same evening, he opened the window & threw some papers out. For god's sake please someone tell me how can i make him see that i am keeping an empty pepsi bottle, two used disposable glasses & some toffee wrappers in the car so i will throw them when i will find appropriate bin. If it is so difficult to change one indian, i can well imagine that the country will never change.
Eating a pizza with a fork & knife, wearing clean clothes, speaking english doens't make anyone of you educated or civilized. A civilized person is one who knows his social responsibilities & takes care of them, who knows how to behave in public places.
INDIA will never become a developed nation if Indians wouldn't learn to work. Do you know why India is unable to compete with China in manufacturing or export business. We need 5 to 8 people to complete a job in india, which is done by 1-2 Chinese labour Men. Further, those 5-8 indians will take atleast 3 breaks in an eight hour shift apart from Watering their mouth & visiting the washrooms (& that too in groups). Our efficiency is not even 25% when compared to a chinese. We are atleast 200 times more corrupt than 90% of developed/developing nations.
Why don't we want to change ourselves. I wrote in my last post that one shall think with an open mind. All indians must try to change themselsves, Atleast those who read this post

Know no limits

Do you know there is a difference between knowing & believing. Yes, ofcourse you do. Believing means believing something you don't exactly know, but you actually believe it to be. Knowing simply means knowing for sure. I think it's turning out to be confusing. Ok, Lets take help of an example. Long back, a group of people believed that Sun revolved around earth & they thought they really know it. Today we KNOW Sun doesn't revolve around the earth. Even a 6 year old kid will not have any doubt about it, just like a 6 year old could tell you about earth being stable in one place, some thousands of years back.
We know, what we are told. We believe it so much that we close our minds from accepting fresh air & fresh thoughts. Can you be really 100% sure that some 100 years later a scientist will not come up with a major discovery saying that Earth is not revolving. Who knows he may give us something like this as a reason for past mistakes "OH !! GREAT revolving speed in space & the lack/excess of something creates high level of hynotism which we really couldn't defeat even with machines/robots."
Well it may or may not happen but what i am trying to say is "Open your minds. Don't start from where someone ended unless you are not very sure about it. Think Fresh & fair"
Just to test, i asked a question at http://answers.yahoo.com/
Q: Is it possible to transmeet electricity wirelessly? If yes, how? If no, why not? Can we replace electricity with something that can be transmitted wirelessly?
Some of the answers were amusing.. read on
Nickname: BOOMER SOONER FAN: Yeah if we want to kill our self explain to me how you are going to get electricity safely through the air from one place to another it would be like having lightning everywhere
Nickname: CWcc: wireless electricity? I think it's called lightning...but seriously, you want to transfer energy without wires;the easiest way to do that is to transmit electromagnetic waves, i.e. radio, microwave, lightthe problem with that is that it would 1. be prohibitively expensive 2. work poorly with things like walls 3. be impossibly difficult to coordinate among users 4. have a tendency to cook people alivein short, we do not yet have the technology to transfer energy wirelessly in a practical way.
Mohit (My Bro): Pata nahi. Dimaag ni chalana mujhe. i have read somewhere its possible.
BOOMER SOONER forgot we don't see sms all over the sky when we send/recieve it. We can always decode. "How" is technical & can be answered by a scientist only. I can't even tell how voice is transferred through wires or towers. Mohit didn't make an effort. CWcc tried to be technical with no technical support for his answer. Anywyas, that is not the point.
How could somebody have created LYCRA if one would have kept thinking "COTTON IS NATURAL, I CAN'T DO MUCH WITH IT".
Think, Imagine. Only then you can do something new or atleast try to do something new. This applies to not only science but also to history & traditions.
Stop following something rigidly without knowing the reasons. This general curosity is a part of your being educated. You must convert yourself into an educated person from being a literate alone. An idea of creating an email system such as hotmail was not an achievement on technical front alone. The greater part was the idea.
Today, i switched on the tv & heard Coal minister saying "we want to increase coal production in india so people will stop importing coal from outside. When we already have something, why should we import it." Alrite !! This is a very common mindset. When you can produce something home, why to move out for same. But China is importing all the coal & preserving its own coal reserves, i heard. I also heard China is largest crude oil buyer from international market but not the largest consumer. So, are they creating reservoirs? Are they waiting for the world to finish natural resources elsewhere so they become the only supplier. MONOPOLY... A new thought. Business sense.
Imagination Pays. Try it...

Think Original : Imagine

I am writing this just because i want to write something interesting. This is going to be a long long story so i am not sure if i will be able to finish it tonight. Further, I know many will find it unreasonable when i will start toying with, Why Ravan (The Villon of Ramayan) could be something more than what we understand or why Nathuram was not a mad man as is told in our school books or why Gandhi may not as good as we believe him to be. My apologies to them & please mind it, i sincerely do not intend to hurt any one's feelings.
It is certainly a matter of grief that our education system & our society has closed its doors to imagination. Kids are made to believe as they are told & at the same time we expect them to be Creative & artistic; after all the world is competitive. ;-)
As we all know, a 10 head Ravan is set on fire every year on Dusshera Festival of HIndus. Now why do we make a ten headed Ravan. A human practically can't have 10 heads since i think 2-3 still could be attached to neck/throat but 10.. give me a break
There are not many versions of why He had 10 heads. However some say He was so intelligent that He could work & think as much as 10 person together would do. A lost hindu version could be the event when he asked Lord shiva to accompany him to Lanka from Kailash mountains forever. He cut his head with a sword saying i will not live if you wouldn't come along & Lord shiva brought him back to life. The same sequence was repeated 10 times before Lord shiva said "ok, but if you really want to take me to Lanka then you will need to carry me with Kailasha & that too without putting me on earth even a single time.
One another reason could be 10 great things about him, which was not so easy to find in one man. He was a great warrior, a kind King, a great scientist, a devout & some more which our history books skipped. The fact that SITA remained untouched after being in his custody speaks for his humanity itself. Anyways i will not limit this to just Ravan or any religion so i will give in some more examples.
Our history books tell us that Nathuram Godse was a mad man & he killed Mahatma Gandhi. Most of the grown ups today know that he was not mad but We do have a negative impression regarding Nathuram. If his acts were wrong, then why isn't the decision left to those who are studying the history?
I remember once i asked my friend about a traditional thing Hindus do. Hindus have a tradition of putting oil on main door whenever some relatives/guests are expected home. I wonder if anyone knows the purpose. During a discussion an idea popped up in someone's mind sometime back, that the reason for this could be the noise made by wooden doors. The idea was very much suitable since in old times wooden doors were used as a main door of house & they were always prone to rain water, which will ulimately result in doors making noise. My two friends started laughing at this & they found it really funny. Well one of them is still with me & i didn't feel bad at all. But i felt that Even literates have closed their minds to original thoughts then how can we expect an illiterate to behave in a socially responsible manner. I think we are asking for too much from somebody who is too busy in arranging food for his family.
once my causin told me it was impossible to fix even the smallest elephant's head to biggest human's neck since the sizes were not compatible for attachment. Only then i realized GOD could have attached Ganesha's original head back to his body. After all, God could do anything at all & Moreover, how could God ask his servants to kill an animal for no reason just because HE wanted to please HIS wife by bringing GANESHA back to life.
Think about it & i will write more soon...
To be cntd.. **

Where is the gr8 HE ?

I am not a great thinker, not even a great writer & whoever comes across this blog, shouldn't expect an effortless great combination of words. I am just a normal human being with no extra ordinary skills.
The world is so big, so many countries, states, cities & so many people in each city. The world population is great in number.. & growing. When i leave for office in the morning or sometimes when i am coming back, i see people on roads. Their faces make me feel, everyone has got something to cry for. Everybody is upset with life & craving for something which is just out of reach. Somebody has professional problems & some other have personal. Some of them have both by the grace of GOD.
So many people are killed everyday... some in Kashmir, some in North-East India, some in Chechnya, Afghanistan, Iraq, entire Africa & the rest of the world. I am sure many of them look up in the sky & ask for HIS help. Even if they don't, GOD knows they seek one more chance to do the right things in life. So why don't they get one. When somebody dies of heart-attack or some disease, I don't think much about it. But some of the reasons are just not meant to be understood.
I ask Hindus, where is RAMA/KRISHNA/SHIVA/GANESHA/DURGA today when religion has become a shameless money making business. C'mon even if i was a criminal... Ganesha's Milk drinking activities won't scare me for even a second & if HE is within you then please forget it... We all are too corrupt to have pure souls within us. What kind of GOD JESUS was, if humans could punish & kill him. How could i accept Mohammad if he killed so many & So many are killed in his name every now & then. All of these couldn't have been GOD, they all made mistakes in their lives. All of them remained limited to certain parts of world & we just dont now what happened in the remaining part during that time.
If someone runs this world the HE wouldn't think about INDIA or US or CHINA, 'cause it all belongs to him. HE knows no borders.
Who is HE? Where is HE? Is there anybody at all, or wise men created HIM so we can sit & talk to somebody, when we really need to.
